Recording "What You Hear" into Sonar 8.5 Producer.

I am using:
Cakewalk Sonar (ASIO 192KHz)
RME Fireface 800
Falcon (as an external softsynth)
on a Win 7 x64 machine 8gbRAM

I have tried for the last few hours to load Falcon as a softsynth into Sonar, but it doesnt seem to take. Using Falcon outside of Sonar it plays fine, so i thought it best to try and record (what used to be called) "What You Hear" from Falcon as an external softsynth.

I can hear audio...levels look good in TotalMix (FF interface)

Settings in sonar have FF 1/2 In as default input, so when armed to record, even tho i hear sound, nothing is recognised by Sonar.

My question is, how to i get Sonar to record what i am hearing.

I would try different settings for audio (WASAPI, WDM) but sonar only plays nice with the FF in ASIO (Falcon is set to ASIO as well and recognises FF.

What am i missing?

Much appreciation for any help on this...

windows 7 64bit, 3.25gHz dc/7gb ram, onboard POS audiocard, korg mr1, ensoniq asr-x, sonar 8.5.3...for now...

I'm not familiar with TotalMix, but there should be a way to send from the output back to input, internally, which is essentially what 'What U Hear' is doing in Creative soundcards. Just be sure Input Echo is disabled on the recording track while that routing is in place to prevent feedback.
