Girlfriend on a Train - 53mph

Hi guys,
I haven't posted anything on here in an age as I've been rebuilding a house (yes, with my bare hands), but now I'm working on some new material with my new tools - I got Kontakt and the Orangetree steel slide (lovin' it), so I thought I'd share some work in progress. I've got the vibe down. Def need more lyrics and some more variation in the drums. Let me know what you think. ;)

thanks Voda. I'll take that. 😄 as I get older, I get more easy listening. Few more years, I'll be Cat Stevens.

Love it. You’re on to something here. All the elements of a creative , inventive and enjoyable composition are here. Take your time , flesh it out a bit and you’ll be thrilled with your results. I love what you’ve already done but because it has that “something” , I’d try to take this to the next level. I may sound like a pompous ass, but I’m just a regular ass and really enjoy hearing someone come up with some special.

wow. Thanks Manny. I'm going to work on it but try to keep the sound as is. It's always a balancing act between adding more and not trying to overdo the sound. I've got my small pool of tools (piano, dobro, cajun drum) which make up my brew, but I'm really enjoying the lap slide through distortion. Thanks again.

I liked this a lot. Couldn't say why really. It's like Marshall Crenshaw. I haven't the foggiest notion why I like his songs---I just do. Thought your mix was good too. Whatever you did on the vocal during the bridge was very clever and creative.

The title made me think of that Hitchcock movie Strangers on a Train. Uh oh what's gonna happen to the girlfriend?
Anyway, I really liked the song esp the lyrics and  chord changes. The vocal treatment works really well too.
