Orchestral sounds

I am looking for Orchestral sounds that might come with sonar. Or free ones I can download. Im using Sonar X3 at the moment.
I dont want to pay for Kontakt as I only need these sounds for this particular song Im working on.
Anyone know where I can find some higher quality ones that you've had experience with. ? Im looking for people who have used these and can comment on it first hand.
Im mainly looking for percussion. If that helps.

Also, I want to point out that ive been working with cakewalk sonar for the past 3 years and every day I grow to love it more and more. Its such a great piece of software, though it has its flaws. I really do hope bandlab can turn this one around because I dont even want to think of going to another DAW.

Thanks again!

Cakewalk TTS-1 is probably usable for woodwind sounds, not great, but usable.

Then there's Cakewalk SI Virtual Strings.

You could also take a look at this: http://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-overture/  it's 32 bit though.

For percussion sounds, take a look here: http://www.philharmonia.co.uk/explore/sound_samples

Versilian Chamber Orchestra (community edition) could be something. Don't remember, exactly how hard it was to set up, though, it's been a while:

http://vis.versilstudios.net/vsco-community.html

It has a few gigabytes of samples, so it must be of some quality. At least for the price.

VST version of it is easy to install and use.

There is also http://virtualplaying.com/virtual-playing-orchestra/
It includes VSCO and other open libraries, you will need Sforzando to load them.

"Higher quality", modern, rounded and ready to use means someone had to spend quite some time and resources, and that had to be not long time ago.  So you can not expect up to date Kontakt based sounds or f.e. IK Cinematic Percussion completely for free...

I know you said free, but maybe you could consider Garritan Personal Orchestra, for around 130.00. Much better than any of the freebies, and you'll have it around for future use. The woodwinds and brass are very good, the strings not so much, but the percussion I consider excellent. I have some higher-end libraries, and I still use GPO as much as anything.

There is also the Sonivox ones for the princely sum of $3.99 each:

Older, but sound decent and quite useable.

it's just a matter of what youe needs are. Makes sense to try thew freebies first. If you find you need more, there are plenty of options at every price level.

Virtual Playing Orchestra:  http://virtualplaying.com/virtual-playing-orchestra/

Works with sfz players such as the free Plogue sforzando: https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando.html

Virtual Playing Orchestra is a free orchestra sample library, in sfz format, that attempts to emulate multiple articulations of the solo and section instruments from a full orchestra using the best free samples from Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra, No Budget Orchestra, VSCO2 Community Edition, University of Iowa, Philharmonia Orchestra and extra free samples from Mattias Westlund, author of Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra.
