How to Auto-Reconnect Midi Keyboard

Seeking advice from Sonar experts here, is there a way to make Cakewalk (BandLab) promptly auto-reconnect the midi keyboard after turning it off for a while?

Upon turning the midi keyboard on again, the DAW will ask if the midi device is to be remembered and reconnected, however the midi keyboard does not respond by confirming both, nor does it work by refreshing the midi input in the preference menu.  I usually need to relaunch the DAW to make the midi keyboard properly connected again.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

I have found that many DAWs, including Cakewalk, do not like having the connection to the MIDI devices disconnected.

Restarting the DAW has always worked for me in recovering the MIDI devices to an active state.

If there is a better way, I'm always open to suggestions!

My experience is that both my Roland Keyboard and Yamaha drums have midi USB drivers that you install and always work once connected. BUT, my Akai Synthstation did not have midi drivers and I have to always re boot Cake to get it back. So my belief is that generic midi drivers are sort of like generic on board audio drivers...

I guess it must depend upon how it is connected. (You haven't mentioned that)

Mine is connected via an audio/midi interface and I can switch the keyboard on or off whenever I like and it makes no difference as long as the interface is connected.

I just connect my midi keyboard via the USB port of my computer, maybe that is why it would not auto-reconnect to the DAW in my case.

Thanks for all the inputs.
