finishing off the year with a love song ...
here is the Galtieri Brothers offering for December which I hope you like - the only boy in the world this song was originally entitled 'the only girl in the world' but I didn't know any female singers so I changed it all comments and critiques are welcome + all mistakes are mine. regards paul

Paul, you have a knack for lyrics, even including some bonus rhymes in this song. I didn't think of this as country music, more like 1950's pop or even earlier and nothing wrong with that. The 'you make me feel..' made me think of one of Aretha Franklin's songs. The only suggestion I have is to make the melody a bit stronger.

Love songs like this are timeless. Reminds me of a more innocent time like back in the 60s when the Beatles let us know it was OK to hold hands. Very sweet and very good production. John B.

Hi Bjorn, I think you are right about it being more of a pop song so I have changed the category. To even make you think of Aretha is a big compliment indeed. Hi John, I am an incurable romantic at heart + most of my songs tend to be about love in some way. Thank you both for listening and your comments, they're much appreciated. regards paul

Hi, Paul, This is a really pleasant sounding romantic pop song with a very nice late 60's/early 70's vibe! Well written, great lyrics, vocals and instrumental performances, and the mix feels like a perfect blend of vintage performance meets modern production technique. Excellent work, my friend, have a wonderful week! Bob

Hi Bob, I really like the Eagles who with Irish Folk music seem to be my main influences so an early 70's vibe is great to hear. Hi Daryl, When writing a song I turn around a phrase or melody (that touches my emotions) in my mind as long as it takes to get what I feel are the right lyrics. So thanks for pointing these out especially. Thank you both for listening + your kind comments. regards paul

I love the early '60's vintage feel to this romantic number. It does take me back a bit -- like the last number played at a hop/dance. It has great lyrics and has that strong melody of that era. As Bob said above you have nicely combined a vintage performance with modern production techniques. Nice one!!!

I thought the vocal was a bit too reverbery, but otherwise nicely done chaps. I shall drink a pint of stout in your honors. Bill

Thanks Freddy, It's lovely to generate that sort of reaction with a song + Good man yourself Bill, have a couple more besides (point noted about the reverberyness! ;-). Thank you both for listening + your kind comments, much appreciated. regards paul

Really like the mix you've got between the bass, drums and acoustic guitar. Nice song!

Nice ditty! You might drop the volume on the mellotron/string parts in the chorus when they come in on the left side, they swamp the vocals a bit. You aim for the early 60's and so I guess all that reverb fits the bill. As you get it more perfecterest, you could smooth the ending so that all three elements end at the same time, and fade away smoooooth. It's a very pleasant song for sure. Have you thought about some doo wop or equivalent bgv's? cheers, -Tom

Paul, Really liked the production on this and particularly the acoustic guitar sound, melancholy vocals and snappy snare. I agree with Tom re adding bgvs or maybe even a harmony, but overall an excellent song and well recorded.

Sweet song Paul, strangely I started imagining Roy Orbison singing it.
