Using apps from the utilities menu in Sonar

Hi,
When using "Sound Forge" or "Wave LAb" from within the Sonar utilities menu, you can process a clip and it will save back to the Sonar timeline.

I've recently added iZotope RX and Melodyne editor to the utilities menu and they don't seem to work the same. You get a message about the session data folder; if I change it to the audio folder from that session, it doesn't help get it back in sync on the Sonar timeline.
I can edit the file and save it somewhere which is great but still need to manually sync it up. Is there a way to get these to function the way sound forge etc. does and save back to the Sonar time line?

Thanks
Jono

I’m on my mobile so it’s difficult grabbing links BUT if you go to the Software forum. Check out the very first thread Sonar and Cakewalk resources and Utilities.
In the Contents, select Programs & Utilities then scroll down looking for Scooks Tools the one you want is called SonarToolseditor. It will let you add programs to Sonars/Cakewalks tools menu. There’s lots of other useful material there created by users here.

Thanks! Yes, I have Scrook's tool for getting the editors to show up in the utility menu. It worked great! The question was related to RX and Melodyne asking about session data folders and if there's a way to set it so the files come back into the Sonar session on the time line where they come from. I'm able to bring clips into those editors and work on them no problem. I just have to save them to the desktop after I edit them and then manually bring them back into Sonar and line them up. Was hoping to avoid that step if possible.
    Anyone have that issue?

There were threads long ago with RX, but I cannot remember if there was a solution with it. I think that there was though.

As far as Melodyne, SONAR uses ARA (Audio Random Access), so that is the preferred method to use Melodyne in a project. Typically, you will want to split and bounce clips so that you minimize the data accessed by Melodyne; then to launch it, you can either create a region FX, or use CTRL-M. When finished, bouncing that clip will render Melodyne edits into the project directly.

Here is one of the thread discussing RX6 and RX Connect.

To search these forums, it is easiest to use Google and preface your search with "site:forum.cakewalk.com"... I found that post by searching on "site:forum.cakewalk.com RX utilities menu"

I do seem to remember "RX Connect" being one of the key issues with getting SONAR/CbB to pass audio back and forth.

There have been several. One of them contains Noel's comments referenced in the "Useful Links" section of the Tools Editor help. That thread mentions setting a CurrentDirectory value. I have to leave it for RX owners to figure out exactly what the value should be.

The last time I tested Melodyne, I had Melodyne 2 Editor. The setup was nothing special. It used the same entries as any other wave editor. Just checked with Melodyne 4 Studio and again it only needs the required entries. Melodyne did not prompt for anything except on exit and there is no need to save on exit. Make sure to click "Replace Audio" before quiting Melodyne to update the tool copy reloaded CbB.
