Experiment with different tunings

I would like to do some experimenting with quarter tone music... What's the best way to set that kind of thing up for a keyboard sound in Sonar?

    Well, you've got a major problem in that the MIDI standard doesn't use quarter-tones... I'm sure it could be faked somehow with bent pitches, but I've never heard anyone try...

    There are keyboards out there that support quarter tone scales, but I am not sure how they are implemented in Midi recording...

    I don't know of any special provision for it in Sonar.

    Scala might be a good place to start. Also, Tonalsoft is cooking something. Their online encyclopedia of microtonal music is excellent.

    Yes, it is done with pitch bends, but some synths may also accept the Bulk Tuning Dump Request. Your biggest problem will be the physical layout of the keys: there just ain't enough of them!

    Your best bet would be to just take up the Sitar!
