new wrench piece 'Denial'

features some guitar work so may have more appeal than the usual electronica on this forum
course the guitar is synthetic, but ...

anyway
I've heard the pads are occasionaly intrusive and too dry (?!)
and I've heard that the 'vocal' (fwiw) gets buried
but it's meant to be less prominent through the middle sections
it's the old question of how distracting is a certain level of murk
how much can I ask of the listener's ears?

and what better place to get another schooling on that than this forum?

i didn't like it much at first, but it's grown on me so I'd like to improve upon it further
given the discerning listen and comments here

    Hey Wrench,
I don't mean to disturb you, but this could make a really good "pop" song.
It has a kind of Peter Gabriel sounds to it. Something vaguely breezy about it.

One thing I hear a lot in your pieces it that all of the intstruments come in at the beginning and play through out (ok, the thin out at 4:10). I'd suggest that you'd have more comings and goings. You've managed to conquer the heavy murk of you're previous work.

    I liked it.

    hey ed,
i was hoping you'd show up

yeah, i am of the odd opinion that it's music before it's electronic music

this one doesn't start out with absolutely every 'voice' playing at once, but you are correct there'd be more drama if parts dropped out and came back

it's a by-product of how I work, but obviously that can change

most of the murk disappeared when i started using the Sonitus EQ to drop frequencies below 250 - 200 on pads and such

    thanks for listening
lots of P Gabriel like syncopation here gives it a hint of Latin / World beat

hi jan another unique yet recognisable tune.

persoanlly I,m too sure about all the sections, but as always there are some really interesting and enjoyable material.

i agree with ed that the murk has gone, but perhaps IMO a little too much.

I,m finding myself these days that there is a fine line between too little and too much EQ. But i guess its a process of experimentaion.

overall though (as normal) i like it alot, and could really get into those kind of whinning (in a good sense) in and off tune synth sounds. If you understand what i mean

If you live the sacred and despise the ordinary,
you are still bobbing in the ocean of delusion

    Some sounds with spaces
