Something Went Horribly, Horribly Wrong With Sonar 3

I have no idea what happened....it was working fine earlier today, both recording and playing back. Then started up the computer again, and no MIDI with my devices. Checked all the device settings and cables, all well, and in fact could play straight from controller to module. Opened an audio-only project and it was sooooo bad, all distorted and off-time. Tried another, same thing. Scratched my head for few minutes then decided to bite the bullet and restore from my Feb 28 Ghost backup. 25 minutes and all is well. Backups work people <whew>. Just thought I'd share a good news story. (I WAS scared, but I got lucky).

No, no, no, no, no, Steve!

You were supposed to spend three and 1/2 hours pissing and moaning about how you were tired of Sonar, then ask anyone if they have had the same problem, ignore all advice, and then proclaim that you have fixed the problem without recogizing the efforts of a single person who tried to help!!!!

Please, RTFM!!! With over 4000 posts we all assume you know the protocol!!!!

Well, I guess I know who all the "****ing, whining and moaning" was about. I thought about restoring to a previous time. However, that's not foolproof, even if you back stuff up. I decided to say "F*** It!" So, instead of quitting, I am going to take the advice of the Forum. I'm gonna buy a hot screamin' DAW from Scott Reams! Thanks Phrauge. Thanks Scott. Now I'm truly idiot-proof! [Is that your girlfriend, Steve? Does she have a sister? (Well, at my age maybe I should ask if she has a mother.)]
With regard to RTFM-get real. All problems are not solved therein, especially not massive system meltdowns. Find a more appropriate thread before posting beat-red faces, OK? (I would take that back, considering how inane some of my posts are. But, you know what?Naaah.)

Rallen, I don't think Brian was directing at you. He was just poking fun at the way a lot of posters seek help.
You are ABSOLUTELY right that backups are not foolproof....that's why I was scared - I am always scared doing a restore because you never know if it will go well. I always have 3 versions to go back to, but the further I go back, the more changes I lose, so I really put a lot of "hope" into it. But technically, I try to stack the deck by using correct methods.

I think you are on the right path with your current plan, and you're in good hands with those guys.....if you have problems, I will be one of the first to try to help.

And BTW, she is our age (I'm 47), just maybe not in that picture.

    Rallenjones,
Don't have a cow , man. I'm sorry about your recent problems, but I was not poking fun at you - just picking at Steve.
RTFM is pretty much a joke around here now.

Wow, reading all this made me **** and moan for 3 1/2 hours and want to stuff this cakewalk crap and go back to cubase/p.t/nuendo! And I'm not even having problems (knock on wood) and I've never even used Noobase, SlowTools, nor Nintendo!!
