New tune: "Dust Under The Wheel"

Hi Folks,

We have a new tune posted that was recorded and mixed utilizing Sonar 3.x and finally Sonar 4. This is a kinda hard rocker that doesn't reek of depression. It's actually fairly up-tempo even! Please check it out and let me know what you think!

We have also posted an updated version of "Sometimes I Didn't Mind" which is a mellower acoustic rock tune also produced with Sonar 3.x and Sonar 4.

...And for those who wanted us to let folks know when our initial release is available, well, it is now available!! Email me via our band web site, and I'll let you know the details!!

    Hi
Nice tune ... I like the bass work on this one particularly. I wish
the lead vox was a little more out front .. maybe some short L/R delay
would help have it jump out a bit in the mix.

Perhaps the mix-masters will comment.. but other than that, it's a good
    song.

Nice tune, well played. I agree with jeff on the vocals, and the drums could sound a little fatter in the mix, but then I am no expert! Sounds good.

Right Away, I'm like, boost those vocals. And i also agree with the drum comment. I think they should be a little heavier to better match up with the heavy guitars and bass. Everyone's instrument has to carry their weight.
Crank the vocals man, you're depriving your song from being that much better than it already is. peace Mr. Moon and all other members of the lunar federation

OK. I will double check the level of the vox and drums, for sure!! Thanks everyone for your feedback on that stuff!!

    How does "Sometimes..." sound?

"Luner Federation" ...heh, reminds me of like 10 years ago when I got this Star Trek "Friends of the Federation" certificate and ID card in the mail. I still have the certificate to this day!! Great stuff!!

Actually, I was making a reference to the end of Rush 2112. "Attention: All members of the the SOLAR federation. We have assumed control"

Of course, the solar federation wouldn't work for you Mr. Moon. I'll check out the other tune soon.

I like the whole thing, except for the octave lead guitar tone. It sort of makes a really polished sounding song sort of not so polished. By the way, you, or whomever the vocalist is, is absolutely outstanding.

I shared your feedback with our vocalist, and he said "that's cool" ...then he kicked me out of the band. Thanks a lot!! Actually, we appreciate the honest feedback and I'll take into consideration your thoughts about the purple monkey, er..., I mean, "octave solo" thing... Not that we're trying to sound polished (we're not), but how would you suggest making it more polished; by removing the second lead guitar track (octave above, or octave below) or just lower the level of one of them?

    Thanks!

    -mr moon

(* The "purple monkey" thing was just a joke about how many folks don't seem to hear what other people are saying when they give feedback, so I was just goofing)

    Hey Mr. Moon,
Just catching up - like this tune. Just want to reinforce that the vocal need more presence - not just volume, but also some "vintage" compression (e.g., warm it up with some harmonics).

Yeah, I think we'll be working on this tune a bit tomorrow night at band rehearsal and I'll be sure to keep your comments in mind as we tinker around! We accidentally squashed the f#ck out of the vox when we were tracking them, but decided to keep them as we liked the "sizzle" we got, it fit the tune's vibe really well.

I see you're from Mpls. We have a gig Thursday March 31st across the river in St Paul at Station 4 (info available at our website). Please feel free to stop by and check us out! (I can get you comps, just contact me via our band website and I could email them to you). We just had a gig last Thursday night at the Terminal Bar on Hennepin ave, small venue, but it was fun!!

    later!

Good tune.... Think you had a better drum sound on the other heavy one. But still a great tune

Thanks for the heads-up. Actually, the drum levels on this one are set pretty much as they are in "Come Clean" ...its just all the other stuff in the mix that's getting in the way. I think we're going to be ripping into "Dust..." for a couple of hours tonight and I'll keep your comment in mind.

    Thanks!
