I can't help but be reminded of some final confrontation in some video game like Legend of Zelda when I hear this... the final boss level!! HOORAY!!
No really, it sounds very video gamish to me (I said GAMISH, guys, not AMISH).
But that isnt a negative comment! I just mean that you've used a very minimalistic approach to instrumentation (almost like you used basic GENERAL MIDI soundfonts)... structurally it is also minimal. Basic chording using progressive triads for each instrument....percussions using basically the same looped measure or two... two note bass-lines , pulsing sine-like tones... choir and string patches with no modulation...
Yet... extremely well constructed melodically! The main motif is well balanced and maintained and effected by a countermelody. A very good final boss level I'd say!
a tip, if I may: Next time, Syn.ops... when using loops repeatedly in a mix try experimenting with more expression and modulation. Also consider throwing different FX on at different points of the song...so it changes it just enough to keep the listener actively aware of change...otherwise it may become fatiguing. This is very hard to do when working with loops. The very nature of Trance and most electronica means that you are using the same loops and patterns over and over....the key is to progress these loops as the song matures.
The way I choose to progress my loops is to make counter melodies to the main motif (much the same as you have done)...only I try to get about 3 or 4 all layered together by the end of the song. Dont take this as anything other than a friendly peer suggestion. Im new to this too bro!
AWESOME FIRST PROJECT FOR YOU!! Lets hear another one!!
Oh..and welcome to the boards here Syn.Ops!
