NEW SONG (Nice to see you again) :)

Ahh. long time since I was here. Greating all fellow musicians and composers. (Are you still here Garry?)

Nice to be back. Some of the same people here still, I can see.

I've recorded a new song R²OS - Daydreaming

The style is more of the Grant Lee Buffalo or Blur style (not that good of course) he he

Hope you will give me some feedback if you have the time, I will give it to you as well of course...

This time I had to make the bass on an electric guitar and transpose it, will replay the bass as soon as I can get hold of a bass guitar, he he.

The guitar is tuned down to a C6, just like Joni Mitchell likes it...
BPM 115

Here is the rest of my setup:

Equipment used:
Stratocaster Plus
Fender Acoustic
A Marshal Mic.
Sonar 2.2
Some drum samples
Boss –Compression Sustainer
Eurorack 4-track mixer
Creative live soundcard from 1998
My imagination, voice and me playing.

And the lyrics:

R²OS – Daydreaming © 2005 ®

1) Little girl looks out the window
Little sun, little sun
Little boy looks out the window
All is gone, all is gone

2) Why the dreams are
realistic
sometimes scary
waking up

Chorus)
What you’re getting at, stop
Can I use it for my own?
Is this my life or a trick of the eye?
Illusion, illusion
Daydreaming

3) She is staring
out the window
On the other side
is he

4) Nothing’s said and
Nothing’s done and
What is love?
A mystery?

Bridge)
I’m sorry
You said
I’m sorry
Is it me?

Chorus2)
What are they getting at, stop!
Can they use it for their own?
Is this a life and how will I die?
Delusion
Delusion
I’m screaming…

I dig it. Compositionally - it's really easy on the ear. Nice voice - nice playing. I'll probably listen several times.

On the technical side - sometimes the voice is competing with instruments for prominence. Save the center for the vocals, mostly. I'd rather not have to struggle to hear the vocals. The drums lack some power and sometimes get buried in the mix.

You did a nice job on this. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi,
I like it .. I wouldn't start out with the distorted guitar though ..
it doesn't ease in the first verse like it should... spread the
vox out a bit more. You might want to think about dropping
    the distortion altogether......
    Nice song...

Wow. Some fast replies, I must say

Hmm. Maybe a good advice, that one...

Think I'll go for it, removing the disorted guitar in the beginning....

    Thanks

You mean to put the guitars further our, right/left. How many % out, then, do you think. (thanks for the advice.)

I'll listen to your music as well. (if you have a link, that is)

Yes, just scoot them over a bit - not too far.

Another reason I like your song so much is that the you use a soundblaster and are getting good tones, defying conventional wisdom that you need high end sound cards...

He he. Thanks. You mean like 50% or something?

By the way, where is your music at?

Yeah - like 30-50%. Give it a try and see what you think. You may not like it and that's OK too.

My stuff is here in the songs forum with me (danhazer) as the author.

    Thanks,

Hmm. Did not find your music, though... (as for the drums, just loops, wish I could get a real drummer playing it.)

I think your loops sound pretty cool. Maybe some extra EQ and compression could beef them up a bit. Keep up the good work.

There's a link to my latest work about half way down the page here. Here's a link to my wife's song, "Beautiful."

    Again nice tune.

    Thanks,

Sounds very beautiful and proffesional, your wife's music. Very nice voice. Great production. :)
