    Stu...my 2¢

This is a good song. I like the percussive rhythm and up close 'personal' feel to it. It moves well and is memorable. I like the chorus melody...it has a nice build to it and seems to be a nice payoff for the subdued/emotional work that precedes it.

That being said, the recording is very distorted. I also think the vocal performance gets a bit sloppy during the verses, but seems to be right on during the chorus.

Have you thought about tracking this in two parts...just do the guitar full through so you can concentrate on doing separate vocal takes / comps ??

    Hey Stuart,

I'm a big fan of your music. This, like your other stuff is great songwriting, lyrics and the structure supports the melody very well.
Not a fan of the distorted vocal!
Other than that... another stuartsmith classic.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Stu,
    You're a hell of a song writer.
You could leave this as is; it makes a good unplugged piece.
Or, you could do a DMB kind of thing. Either way it's good.

Nice tune. Cool lyrics. Things sound a bit distorted thru my phones... I'm not sure if that's my problem or yours. Things might be a tiny bit pitchy at points. If the purpose of the demo is to decide if the song is worth producing and cleaning up, my vote is yes.

I agree with everyone else. the songs is great, I love the chorus, The distortion on the vocal is a little annoying.

    DMB mean
Dave Mathews Band, or replace your favorite acoustic guitar driven full band set up.
Referencing DMB because he's a great rhythm player and the band is tight, more than the song style.

Okay, here it goes. Not being a music critic I can only say this is something your students can aspire to. BYI. it is nice to hear you are on the upbeat after some gloomy news. I can relate. Congrats, and may all your efforts be successful.

Cool song. Bad recording. Sorry mate. I enjoy your songs. Your vox are actually pretty good (mproving? or just letting it hang out?), can you sing a couple of sets like that? But the guitar did not sound good to my ears. Anyway i think you may have a thing going with this soon at clubs/bars whatever, not too bad at all.

I like the acoustic feel of this. The verses were nice. I'm not going to comment on the distortion as I think most people commented on it enough (and it does sound like it was just the peaking of the level rather than an added effect).

The vocals had some pitchy moments; however, the melodies certianly came through. The song was nicely arranged. The verses flowed into the choruses nicely. I also liked the concept of the bridge.

    Nice tune!

    hi Stu

everyone else has already said what I was going to say. So I'll just mention that I really liked the middle 8, which really lifted the song. If you're going to leave it acoustic then you might want to ride the velocity a bit so there's a bit more light and shade between chorus and verse.
Good track, even at this early stage.
