Bela D Media changes product name
Posted: 03-28-2005, 06:44 PM We received a fax by Cakewalk/Twelve-Tone today stating that we must change the name of our sample guitar library {Project6:Lyrical Distortion} or they will seek legal action. So FYI... Project6:Lyrical Distortion is now called LYRICAL DISTORTION! __________________ Francis Belardino | www.BelaDMedia.com Owner of | Sound Designer Bela D Media is introducing a guitar sample product which they were going to call Project 6: Lyrical Distortion. They were asked by Cakewalk to change the name. Thought you guys might find this interesting. It's from a thread on Northern Sounds. I have to admit, I thought Project 6 was a bad choice, but kudos to Bela Media for making the change.

Wow. Just read through that long thread over at NS. Thanks for pointing this out. Interesting that Ron Kuper posted... and inadvertently stirred things up.

Interesting reading... What a pain in the ass for Cakewalk though. I love the part where the guy who named the software admits that he didn't even know about project5 because he uses steinberg stuff. That basically says that he did no consultation at all. Furthermore, you can be sure that someone would have mentioned it to him shortly thereafter. One of those.. "you know Cakewalk has a program called Project5" conversations. Clearly, he decided that he couldn't be bothered to be considerate of Cakewalks interests in this respect and continued on his merry way with a completely unfair choice of name for his product. Whenever you're in a tight situation like this it is best to let a lawyer handle it from start to finish. Unfortunately, lawyers are harsh. my 2 cents.

Now I'm wondering how hard I'm going to get hit for that "p5k00L" thing ... Edit: "Your honor, it was DA's fault. But he's protected under the UN delegation immunity law ..."

for some unexplainable reason, I really want The P5 Glove. No mystery there. Who wouldn't want some matching P5 Gloves to go with the P5 t-shirt and underwear that we all covet so much? They're just perfect for those formal occasions where carrying only the small P5 handbag just won't do. It's only a matter of time before someone sees the huge marketing potential of the Project5 little black dress. You can wear it anywhere ...

It was ironic that I was looking at the thread again, and there was a banner ad for a company called Sampletech. IK Multimedia could have fun with that one. Pretty close to Sampletank. hmmmmm Got me thinking,,,,,, RGC Audio, and RBC Audio confusion too. There's a lot of that,,,, I think I'm gonna start a band and call it " NO" or maybe "ME 2" or "Matchbox 22" Maybe I'll get a new user id and call myself d_rock. I better go back to bed, my dog woke me up!!!!!!!
