something new

We had been working on this one for about 3 weeks trying to overcome some mix issues, sound card issues and software issues just to name a few. This was what we ended up with. I think I redid the vocals 30+ times so they may be a bit off. That was part of the software issues! Anyway I hope you guys like it.

another gem guys...I really like it...though I really like all your stuff...1 song a week it seems...nice productivity especially considering its all original material! (lets recap a moment:)

    1) Intelligent, thoughtful, insightful lyrics
    2) Top-notch playing on all instruments (I really like the bass in this tune)
    3) Vocal perfection...though that is given with Dazed. (never any pitch issues and smooth)
    4) Production values as solid as anything I hear anywhere and very consistent as far as creating "Your" sound.

Did I miss anything? If I did, I didn't mean to...

Simply said, This "is what it is"....really, really good!

Sounds good. I think the singing sounds great. I also like the rolly bass pedal.

Rasmuth - Thanks for all the nice comments ;) I am blown away. Doing original music and posting it for the world to listen to, is really putting yourself on the line. You never know what the comments will be and how you will be critiqued, good or bad. I appreciate the feedback more than you know.

Mixposure thanks for taking the time to listen and posting! I was worried about the vocals because, and I think most people can relate, that some takes have more energy than others. After redoing this so many times I began to feel less emotional lol.

I'm listening on junky computer speakers, so take this with a grain of salt.

I don't like the constant flam effect on the snare.

I think the vocal part is just slightly too loud - it stands out a little too far. I can understand all the words just fine, but the backing instruments are getting lost behind it.

    Otherwise, it's sounding good.

Cool rock tune. I like the voice leading in the chorus.
I'm missing some warmth in the sound, you may have over done it controlling the low mids, also the kick pattern is a bit overly complicated in the verse.

I like the the tune, but it need something in the middle there, maybe a pad; it needs something to make the whole sound gel together. The ending could be more definitive.

Right away I thought the snare was way too loud. I think you can drop it down a bit. Actually, now it sounds ok...was it bumped up in the beginning? Maybe it's just the EQ on the snare that sounds tinny to me. Oh....you know, it could be the compression you have on this mix because I can hear when the vocals are on top of the snare the snare sounds right but the vocals then sound too loud. Did you compress this mix? If so, ease up on the compression.

The vocals either have an unnatural EQ or effect on them. It doesn't sound like your real voice.

Enough with the "fixes"...I like the laid back feel of this track. The melodies are easy-going. Guitars are not overdone. The solo was a nice touch. Only ohter "fix"...add some harmonies in there...take it to the next level!

    Hi Dazed,

as always a good and solid rock song. But I'd like to hear more difference or variation between the chorus and the verse. All guitars seem to play the same all the time.

There is a timing issue between the snare and the distorted guitar. That guitar seems to be in time at the beginning, late in the middle and early at the end.

Have you ever thougt about not to process the vocals so much? The doubling is very audible, and it seems to be that way in all of your songs. I think your voice is strong enaugh to go without this heave doubling.

Good track. I dont think the chorus jumps out as much as it could. Plus like whats been said snare is a little to loud at the start. I agree i reckon you could get away without such a processed vocal sound.

Cool Rock tune Dazed! I agree with the others regarding vox processing, I'd back off some. Solid guitar tone and performance as well.

Thanks for listening and the feedback everyone :)

We have a new one we are working on and I had my partner mix it with just one vocal track. I like how it sounds so I asked him to remix this one with one vocal track. For some reason though, I like the doubles on the chorus lol. Just gives it that "full" sound to me. So we may keep those and test it out for a bit. They are easy to pull obviously!

    Hey, Dazed!

Just noting that I took a listen. All the comments I would've provided were already made - especially by Ed and Melf! Except, maybe that the track seems too long, too.

Great vocal (I thought it was the strongest component of this track), and, while it's a very processed sound, it's not outside of what you'd hear on the airwaves.
