Psyn Bank "F"
Hey all you P5 demo-ers! Could you do me a favor and check out Bank "F" in Psyn? That is the bank I created for this release and I really want your feedback on the sounds... I was specifically going for more retro, fuzzy, funky, tweaky sounds. Thanks in advance, Grandpa Mojo www.grandpamojo.com P.S. Thanks Rene for these synths... They really are VERY cool to muck about in!

I thought that the "F" bank was reserved for Jesse's contribution! I really thought that it would be more apropos to have yours in the "G" bank, "GM". I have to reassess how I refer to the bank layout now. I'm not d/l the demo, but you already know how I feel about these patches, Chris. Feel free to publish my comments if you want to (or I will, if I can find the mail backup). So, I guess that it's OK to talk about these now ...? Edit: I smell a prime opportunity to revive the PSYN-tology series from the dead with a reverse-engineering slant on these fantastic patches. Folks: If you thought that PSYN was only capable of "analog/synthetic", prepare to have your current world view shattered ...

hmmmmm.........not one of these patches was using the new features....Maybe somthing got messed up because even the "Give me Delay patch" didn't use delay. Otherwise these are some great patches and I'll prob. be useing them in the future with some tweaking.

Otherwise these are some great patches and I'll prob. be useing them in the future with some tweaking. You're right... These patches were created way before Psyn II - so they didn't have the advantage of the new features (the F/X). I had the choice to add delays, etc. to each of them before they were included in P5 V2 - but decided against it because several were created to be used "dry" and plus I really really REALLY like being able to decide my own F/X for synth patches. The first thing I reach for in any patch on any synth is the "off" switch for the included F/X... - (I hope that doesn't discourage you from using them.) The F/X in Psyn II are so simple and intuitive to use, I figured people would just turn them on and use them as they wanted - or use the P5 F/X (or Waves plugins, UAD plugs, etc. etc. etc.) If more people have the same reaction, I'll go through the set and add Psyn II F/X and upload them as a separate bank. Thanks for the review. - Grandpa Mojo www.grandpamojo.com

Thanks b rock... Please do reverse engineer them... I'd like to *remember* how I got to some of those settings... - Grandpa Mojo www.grandpamojo.com

Guys, and gals! Let's give the man some feedback here. Grandpa Mojo has done a lot for this community, and never asks for anything special in return. He's created some fine patches here that breathe some new life into the PSYN synth, and we can at least give him an honest thumbs up (or thumbs down) after a listen. They were completed well before PSYN II was; if you want effects, just tack them on (even internally) like you would've before. But these deserve a listen first without any effects. Some of the most natural, subtle, and well-constructed patches ever for PSYN; much more so than any of my stuff. You've got Keys, Synths, Pads, Leads, Bass, Percussion, and FX offerings to choose from. Give 'im some love here ...

Will these work with PSYN I? Do I have to download the demo to get them? I'd be glad to give them a run through on my existing v1.5 installation.

Yeah, Brad: these patches are backward- and forward-compatible. They were actually created in the original PSYN synth. I guess that you'd have to download the demo to ... Hey, point me to that Shadow CD thread again, will ya'? Let's see what we can do ... BTW: I've got the offspring downloading the demo for me as we speak. I guess that I'm caving in, but I have an uneasy feeling about this ...

Samples here. They're all .wavs at this point but I can compress them to like 192 MP3's if you'd like. Even just to check them out. Then pick and choose. The offer still stands to burn a CD and snail mail it.

The offer still stands to burn a CD and snail mail it. Thanks, Brad. That's what I was actually referring to somewhat covertly: the location of that thread with your address in it. Listen: I was just being lazy; I can click on your forum name and trace it back. I just thought that while I was doing so, I could kill two attachments with one e-mail, to coin a mixed-metaphor phrase. That is, F that's OK with you ... <g>

Thanks guys for checking out the F bank... I'll check with Jesse Jost and see if we can't get that bank posted on P5.com sooner or later. (It will work with Psyn 1.0 and 1.5). - Grandpa Mojo www.grandpamojo.com

It will work with Psyn 1.0 and 1.5 You guys have been holding out on me! I wrote all of the PSYN-tology tutorials using PSYN (I), and then Rene codes PSYN II for V2, but none of you ever told me about the free point release! Hmm ... so did PSYN 1.5 have just a delay FX section, but not the others ...?<g> [Let me guess: Gig last night, and no beauty sleep?]

Just curious, Jesse: Did you include your own PSYN patch bank (formerly known as the "F" bank) as standard issue in PSYN II? And have you still left a bank open [H?] to encourage experimentation? [I know; I know: it's on the demo. Can you spare a little info for a bandwidth-challenged fan?]

Takes be back to the basement in my parents house with my friend Toke, a 4 track yamaha, cords all over the place and the never ending phrase "did you bounce it yet?"
