HELP ME!! WHAT IS KINETIC?

All I want to know is what is Kinetic?

It is a program which turns your computer in a groovebox similar to a Roland MC-303, but much better. It includes two synthesizers and a bundle of effects which you can use to make "grooves", which you can put together into a full song.

Is it a beat making program like FruityLoops and Reason 3.0?

Yes, although FruityLoops and Reason are much more complete programs. If you want something along the lines of those programs, you should take a look at Project-5 v2.0 instead, which is IMO much better than the other two.

Can Kinetic be used alone to create original hip hop beats?

Of course, although it lacks a sampler which is a must for hip hop. If you plan to buy also Home Studio, then you will be able to take advantage of the VST-DX adapter which will allow you to use additional synths and samplers within Kinetic. Otherwise, you will be stuck with the sounds that come with Kinetic.

Can you make your on drum lines and patterns though?

I usually make my own stuff. Even down to my own sounds. Everything you heard on my track was composed by me using Kinetic.

What are the Synthesizer for?

Synthesizers are what produce all the sounds. Pianos, basses, leads, strings, drums, etc. There are two synths bundled with Kinetic; one of them is sample-based, which means it contains samples of drums, percussions, basses, pianos, etc, and you can manipulate those sounds up to a certain level. The other synth (PSYN) is a substractive synth, which produces synthetic sounds.

I think I want to give it a try how many different sounds and samples does it come with and can you add drumkits and any additional Loop samples to Kinetic?

It comes with a fair amount of sounds (couldn't say exactly how many), plus it comes with effects which are used to modify the sounds. You cannot add new drumkits or sounds in a straightforward way, but it is possible with some tweaks (especially if you have the VST-DX adapter). You can use any audio loop in WAV format as long as it's "acidized", otherwise it won't follow the project's tempo.

Kinetic is an excellent starting point for producing songs. You can get started really fast out of the box. Kinetic's limited abilities really make it fun and easy to learn and use. Also, you can export Kinetic files into Project5 Version 1.x and Project5 Version 2 so you have the flexibility to upgrade if you want more features. Of course I am biased .
