Sonar 4.0.2 +828MkII+micro express=freeze

I have been using Sonar 4 for a few months now with my 828mkII. I have done everything from a 4 piece punk band with 18 mics simultaneaously to typical singer songwriter stuff and a lot of goofy songs of my own in between. Lately I have dgu out a lot of my old midi stuff and started hooking it up to get some more retro 80's sounds. To this end I purchased a Micro Express on Ebay.
The whole setup will work enough for me to be able to record one or two passes. then will freeze in record or play. And freeze so bad that it takes down my system.
Running 2000 sp4, gigabyte N400pro, 1gig mushkin levelII, Athlon XP3200, Radeon 7000, 2x80g sata raid and pata raid. No other software onthis system besides Reason and a few little plugins. No modems, no conflicts that I can find. Anybody else have a similar problem with MOTU and Sonar?

I'm sorry, I suppose I wasnt clear, By "freeze" I mean crash the entire system to ther point where a hard reboot is required

Do you use a UAD1 card? If so, check out this very recent thread...

    1. Is the Micro Express USB or parallel connected ?
    2. Did you download the latest drivers from MOTU for the 828 and Micro Express?

    EDIT: I have an 828 & 896, Sonar 4.0.2, Micro Express USB and a UAD 1 card.....all working without a problem.

I did have a MOTU Pocket Express that was parallel connected it caused problems and I had to ditch it for a USB one

It's a parallel micro express. Yes I am using all the most current drivers.

I downloaded powerstrip, it has helped somewhat, but I am still having some freeze-ups. Though not as often.

now am using M4U for midi. Instead of freeze ups I get random sonar problems. Sometimes, esp on a new project, I cant instantiate a midi or audio track, only stereo buss?

Sonar 7.0.3, Mattel Synsonics, Motu 828MKII (BLA), TC-powercore, Stillwell plugins, Moog MG1, Korg Poly 800, DX27s, Moogerfooger Lowpass, Ovation Magnum, Stingray fretless, Mesa Bass 400, Waldorf Edition, DBA fuzz war, Summit 2BA221, etc
