New little tune using Dimension...

I finally got P5 V2 in the mail this week, and have been totally blown away by the new Dimension synth. This thing sounds great! So I put together a little 0:1:17 tune last night using nothing but three instances of Dimension, along with Pantheon surround as an aux
for the string track, and Ozone for Maximizer and a little low-end cut.

"Dalien" at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/kromiumprisonmusic.htm

The tune itself could probably be fleshed out a bit more, but I wanted to get this out there just to say how enjoyable it is using Dimension.

Cool, looking forward to a full-length version. Sounds like the background to the end of a movie, boy meets girl, falls in love, and then his dark past comes to haunt their future... Hey, you got the imagination going - I was wondering where it had gone!

Thanks! At the risk of sounding cheesy, Dimension really is "inspirational" to use. It seems to make things come together very easily.

I'm looking forward to the full-length version too!

Thanks Rolo! Dimension is the new synth included with Project5 V2:

It's by rgc:audio, so I suppose quality is to be expected...though I think Rene has outdone himself.

I just got P5v2 as well, but haven't even tried it yet. This piece had a really beautiful opening, but fell apart dismally. Ditch the latter part of the track and work the front into a full-length song. You're getting a great lush sound. I think I need a 36-hour day. Can't wait to get into Dimension.

    Thanks elektroniqa.

I definitely agree. The piano part was the first thing I did, with the strings added on. The end section was just something I tacked on using a different Dimension patch, not thinking I'd be posting anything... But yeah, I think I will revisit this one and keep it going!

And yes, a 36 hour day may be one of Dimension's prerequisites. It seems every few patches I go through makes me want to write something new...

While I didn't ditch the end (yet) I did change it a little and added about another minute's worth on last night. Let me know what you think... thanks!

Sounds good Steve, just kicking back having my morning cup of coffie and listening in the headphones. Ah yes a fresh way to start the morning. The piano is sweet, the strings are ok but maybe a little harsh in contrast. Perhaps the intention?

Thanks Marco, it was definitely intended to be a mellow-ish thing. But I think you may be right...the strings are a little bright (not necessarily in a good way), particularly over top of that specific piano. I think a little rework may be in order...

    Hi Steve,
Does the program allow different articulations for the strings by running multiple instances of Dimension or is it more like a synth.

Ummm...I'm not quite sure what you're asking? Dimension itself is a DXi, which is included with Project5, a softsynth workstation. It's not multi-timbral per se, but can be used in that way by assigning a different MIDI channel to each of its "parts". But this means no layering... For this tune, I actually ran three instances of Dimension, each with a different patch. It's just that the default string patch I chose was a little bright for the piano I used.

I did post a new version today with a few tweaks to the strings and otherwise...
