i would like your opinion on a sonar recorded album

i decided to record by myself my bands demo/album... i guess it is done... i have upgraded my home studio and would like to close this phase with some constructive or destructive critisism of my work recording the band... there are 9 songs on the audio section of the page feel free to download any of them and give me your opinion about the mix and the recording sound overall... thanks...

hi... thanks for trying... right click on any of the other mirrors for that song... each song is mirrored on 6 different accounts so we can have more bandwidth... so try on any of the other mirrors that appear at the right of each song title....
    thanks

First, I like your web page. Very professional looking!

Listened to "A song for you".
I'm kind of unfamiliar with this genre.
I thought the initial piano sounded fake, and I didn't really care for the melody.
    Sounds like a sad song.
I couldn't think of too much I like about this tune, unfortunately.

    Next listened to "And then".
Ah, I like this song better.
    Nice ambience.
The drums are a bit strong initially, but sound good later.
I kind of like whatever reverb effect you put on them.
And the primary and backup vocals combine in an interesting fashion.
I'm kind of freaked out by your lyrics though. I guess that's the intent:

if you could take this blade
    slay my wrists
    open wide
    let me bleed
    I'd be so thankful

Well, just my 2 cents, FWIW.

    JCD,

    listened to jubilant:
interesting song, nice laidback feel... ...until the vox begin.
The vox should be louder and with less reverb.
Find out the lowest frequencies of the vox with a spectrun analyzer, boost them and lower these frequencies at all other instruments. This will free some space in the frequency spectrum for the vox, and makes the vox stand out more without the need to lower the other instruments.
Put a locut EQ behind the reverb (I hope you use busses), this will prevent from getting too muddy in the lower mids.

That kinda distorted snare is wanted, I think?

i´ll try to do as you said... i´ve always thought the voice is somehow blurry in between the music but i guess i got used to the overall sound...
    thanks again...
this is what is all about... learnig... and improving...

PD: the distorned snare was indeed wanted...
