Does anyone know how to post "streaming audio"?

I've noticed a lot of band sites have streaming audio (instead of mp3 downloads). I think it's a great idea for small-time, starving musicians (like myself) to demo the product without sacrificing our bread & butter. Is it a relatively simple process? What software is required?

To stream an MP3, in this example - called "mysong.mp3":

    1. Create a text file with Notepad containing a link to the file, for instance: http://www.mydomain.com/mysong.mp3
    2. Save the file as "mysong.m3u"
    3. Upload the song and the text file to your server (in the same directory you specified in #1, above, which in this case is the root)
    3. Post a link to the "mysong.m3u" file instead of the "mysong.mp3" file, for instance: http://www.mydomain.com/mysong.m3u

Players such as Windows media player, Winamp, and others, interpret the .m3u and will start streaming the audio after a small buffer fills.

Orm you could set up a page on Soundclick and let their server handle everything.

Man, that's a lot simpler than I thought. Thanks elektroniqa!
I'm sure there are still ways for sneaky people to pirate the mp3 from the stream, but meh if they wanna go to all that trouble, they can have it.
