CPU%????????

I am running P5V2 on a AMD 3200+ 64 chip and I was trying to go through the preloaded songs. The thing is, I can't play "Taboo Style". It goes over 100% cpu usage. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, mine gets easily overloaded by some segments in some of the demo songs. Just bump your latency way way high before listening to the demo songs and you'll be okay. Also, take a hard look at the sections that are causing the high utilization and see what effects and synths are running to determine if you would be doing something similar and end up running into it everytime you use the software.

For me I am much less sophisticated in my tracks and I have yet to really do a lot of damage until I load up multiple Dimension and PSYN instances with effects--then it gets a bit high.

Thanks for the reply. I actually set my preferred buffer to about 20 ms just to see what happens and it worked fine. I could probably go with a lower setting for my own songs. I never do anything quite as sophisticated as that demo either.

A good general rule as one approaches 100% on your CPU is

1)While recording midi or audio, freeze other tracks and use low latency times
2)While editing or mixing, use higher latency times.
3)Use the Aux busses wherever possible. If you have *any* effects that might eventually apply to more than one track, use aux sends.
4)Also, use low-cpu intensive plugins while tracking and 'arranging', and then replace them with your preferred premium plugins while mixing. Especially reverbs.

    Hello,

When I'm recording Midi notes from my Trigger Finger controller the cursor gets lagging behind and suddenly jumps back up to the now time, and the highlighted midi track being recorded seems to lag behind as well. Is this normal or is there something I can do to get the now time to scroll smoothly while recording midi. It doesn't seem to be interupting the recording, but it kinda messes me up sometimes with my timming. I would like it to scroll smoothly if possible. Thanks for any help. Had to add, I'm not getting a high CPU load, Only about 20%

    See ya, Rockitglider
