Athlon 64-X2 shipping on June 16

It appears that the dual core Athlon 64s are going to be out soon. The ship date appears to be June 16.

The flavors are:

4200+, a 2.2GHz 939 part with 512K of cache
4400+, a 2.2GHz 939 part with 1MB of cache
4600+, a 2.4GHz 939 part with 512K of cache
4800+, a 2.4GHz 939 part with 1MB of cache

It's almost guaranteed that a BIOS update for your motherboard will be required to run these dual core chips. Check with your motherboard manufacturer specifically for X2 BIOS support.

If you're building a new computer, Monarch has the 'bundle' deals where you can buy a motherboard and CPU and they will make sure it has the latest BIOS and will post to the BIOS screen before shipping it to you.

    Looks cool. A bit spendy for me, though. Don't forget, Quad cores are coming out next year.
