CD backup of my new songs

Hello!
I don't know how to save my new project onto CD. I think I have to convert the midi files to WAV form. So I go to Tools - > Mixdown Audio - > Export files.....
This last step of "exporting files" is where I hit a problem, the text is greyed, indicating not operating, so that is as far as I can go.
I'm doing something wrong, just don't know what!
Please point me in the right direction...
Thanks
Ansdell

    Hey,

You are right about converting the MIDI to audio, you just missed a step. To convert it, you either have to record it using the "what u hear" function of the soundcard, or run it through a soft synth and then export it. Either do a search on this forum for "MIDI to audio" or just look for Robomusic's tutorials on soft synths, that should get you started.

One question would come to mind, do you want to backup the cakewalk files or a finished audio track? To burn a finished audio track just do as joeh20 said, follow the instructions to bounce to audio, then burn as you would any music track. or is you want to save a working file of the song in it's "raw" form I.E. midi, audio, and all the plugins and parts, then just burn a data file and copy the folder with the song file in it, remember to also include a copy of the softsynth .dll files and any loops you might have used incase of a computer crash then you do not have to search for the files that makeup the song

.bun will work fine for this type of save, I just go a step further and make sure that all the parts are in the folder, like samples, .dll files for plug ins, etc, just copy them and burn the whole folder to a CD
