Could you please post your average CPU usage displayed in the top right corner when you load the file1.p51 tutorial file?

All these numbers don't mean a thing if you don't list your latency settings Like sluggo and Mike West did

All these numbers don't mean a thing if you don't list your latency settings Correct, Lixi, although they still really don't mean much anyway without even more comparative information. Athlon 2800+ [1 gig] displays 33% upon loading [idle], averages about 38-45% during playback, with one particular passage jumping momentarily to 50%. The numbers held close after a fresh reboot, with the exception of losing the spikes. I'm using the (quite piggish) newest version of the mLan drivers at 44.1/24, with a preferred buffer size of 7 ms. Just in case, I'll add that the wind is coming from the SW at 5 knots (gusting to 10), relative humidity is nearing 100%, and we've had well over a foot of rain over the past week. I also think that the DAW can sense my upcoming departure, resulting in sluggish performance from the prepartum [MOP] depression.

thanks guys! I have 2,8 GHz Pentium 4, MOTU 828 MKII, 1 GB of RAM ...latency is 5.8 ms with the buffer size 256.....I get very close to 60% CPU usage almost all of the time and I though it was a bit too much...of course, testing with the file that I listed above...anyways, it's working fine I guess, as long as it doesn't crash, and it really doesn't...

My PC is similar in power to yours and I've been worried about only having 512MB of RAM. My CPU is 2.7 and I plan on upgrading my RAM in a couple of weeks... Seeing your setup, I wanted to ask how is your PC's performance? I won't be using any additional plug-ins before upgrading the mem... only Sonar 4 and P5V2. I see that you have a much more expansive setup... my question is does your system performance limit your workflow?

(5.8 ms 44.1 Khz, 16 bit, I can do with not to many tracks) When you have a VST wich uses a lot of computer power or a number of Dimensiontracks, you can freeze the tracks. See remark agincourtdb above made: ------------- (...to make a point) With all Dimensions tracks frozen: If you could put the VST in to the etxra RAM I guess it is worth the price For live performing you need ofcourse a stronger PC
