Distortion when clean??

I am new to this and have installed gtp3. I have solved my latency problems I think but now have distortion of my input. I have set up my system thro a Zoom effects box, therefore . Guitar - effects - pc. No matter which sound effect I use, for example clean, I get a distorted sound to the GTP.

How do I stop this?

Cheers in advance

    welcome to the board jason

what soundcard are you using (onboard stock perhaps)? may need to adjust the settings in the windows mixer (double-click on speaker icon). your signal, when it finally gets to GTP3, is real hot. I know some users have posted that they needed to adjust some of the faders between 1/2 - 3/4 way in order to get a managable signal within GTP3.

    Thanks.

I have this prob on both laptop "realtek" sound card and desktop "soundblaster 5.1"

oddly it is worse on the desktop!! If I remove the effects boxes it works fine although you then cannot hear what you are trying to record, just a clean sound. I will tinker with it some more and hopefuly improve things.

    Cheers
