resources on effect timing

I have seen calculations of 60000 divided BPM for the millisecond delay of a quarter note. But there are so many settings in the effects I cant always seem to get what I want. ANyone know of good net sources on this topic?

thanks

I found that doing an midi learn on the setting available on the particular effect you can apply the effect with a little more ease. THis is probably better than making a damn calculation.
