Using an External Editor in Sonar

I could *swear* that there is a way to use an external editor, like SoundForge, inside of Sonar 4.0 (but maybe I am thinking of another program). I couldn't find it in the manual, can anyone help?

Thanks!!!

    Try going here: http://bruce-ennis.com:8085/Download.htm
for a sightly more complicated program or here: http://mandala-in-mind.com
for a slightly more basic product that will let you customize the tools menu. Then just select the wav, open in the editor and when you go to close, it will ask if you want to replace the wav file.

    That should do it.

I thought this was a feature that had been intergrated in Sonar 4.0 - am I wrong?

On some projects I will open kick and snare wav files in SoundForge and normalize each hit during the chorus to achieve a loud, even volume without having to compress too hard.

I could swear there was a feature that would launch the wav. in Soundforge inside of Sonar. Anyone?!?

I have Sound Forge and Adobe Audition on my DAW and they both show up automatically in Sonar under Tools for use as a wav editor. (I'm still using Sonar 2.2XL) They will appear greyed out until you actually click on an audio clip. You may have to check the "share drivers with other programs" option. Then it's just a matter of selecting the program of your choice in Tools and your clip will open up in that program ready for editing. Works seemlessly.

I did not need to configure anything or install any 3rd party program to make it function. It was automatic.

Some programs install themselves in the tool bars... some do not. If yours do, you don't need the 3rd party tools. However, if they don't, then you've got them.

i use sound forge inside sonar all the time....just highlight a wav, click tools on the menu bar, and programs like soundforge and wavelab will be there. it will open the wav in your external editor. save the file in sound forge and it will update the wav in sonar...
