    I want it to be either an MP3 file or a wav. file.
    Right now its just a file that if i go into it it shows the sound waves of the song.

    So if you open the file up you can see the peaks and valleys of the wave file, that means it is a wave file. what else do you want it to do? Are you tryiing to burn it to a CD? or add to it with more tracks?

    Try this (assuming all tracks are audio - not MIDI)....

    Go to "FILE-->EXPORT AUDIO"

    In the box that pops up, select to save as "WAVE" or "MP3"

    Then hit "EXPORT" button.

    You can burn the resulting .wav or .mp3 file to a CD.
