They are very different animals. Both come with excellent descriptions in the manual.

The MIDI data you have was composed for use with a sound module conforming to the GM (General MIDI) spec. Most MIDI files you find are like that. It's a way for the author to know in advance what sound will play when a patch change is sent to select the insturment or sound you want. The TTS-1 is a GM compatible sound module to that's why it worked.

Cyclone is designed for the composer who whats to choose just the sounds they want for a single project and be able to trigger them. The idea is that the MIDI data would only be used on the authors system and would not need to play on any other system. This would be custom MIDI data, no standard (GM) MIDI data.

Revalver is an effect plugin and is mainly used to re-process guitar tracks to make them sound more like they were recorded with a real amp or with a different amp then the one used.

The help file has a great indepth explanation. Type the keywords "Cyclone DXi" into
the help file index. If you have a manual, Tutorial 10, page 108 or check
    Appendix C: page 660.
