Problems with instrument definition Im using XV-5050 and Sonar2.0

I purchase Sonar2.0 and a Sound module(Roland XV-5050 with an expansion board(platinum trax SR-JV80 collection vol.3)my problem is that i found a instrument definition on the cakewalk.net site for my XV-5050 and expansion board also. The thing is that when i use the instrument definition, that i have downloaded, i'm only able to use and control one channel only on my sequencer(sonar2.0)and is the first channel(ch1).I wonder where did i go wrong.Cause when i select or change a instrument on the sound bank it respond only on ch1.It does'nt respond when i change channel example: ch2,ch3,ch4....ch16.i can record midi only in ch1 also and when i try to an other ch it would'nt work.I'm using a Layla24 sound card and a midi keyboard controller. If someone has a answer for me or a better instrument definition for me, i will be more then grateful for the help, cause i'm on a little rush to produce some projets.

Thanx a million to the one that will help me out ;)

On the XV 5050 are you in performance mode or patch mode? If you are not in performance mode you will only be able to use 1 ch. In performance you can use 16 ch if you use the first performance for sequences. Check your Roland manual.

this module is similar to the one in my vx-88 keyboard. I had fits getting it to work but ultimately did with help from this forum. Hope something in here helps. I learned alot through it all.

I've never had a problem with my XV 5050 & Sonar, but I'm using Sonar 3.1.1

Maybe you should at least upgrade to Sonar 2.2 it's free.

I have an XV-5080 which is similar. John is correct. You should set the instrument to Performance mode and pick a performance where each channel responds to a different midi channel. Then, you should be able to use channels 2-16. I vaguely remember that's what I did (I use almost all soft synths now.) Let us know if this works.
