Tascam FE-8 Settings in Sonar

I've just got my fe-8 hooked up to my FW-1884 but it seems to have gone haywire. I followed the FE-8 set-up instructions [uninstall 1884 driver, hook up the FE-8, then re-install the drivers for both]. But I've got weird and intermittent communication between the 1884, FE-8 and the computer. Everything was fine between the 1884 and the computer before I added the FE-8.

Can anyone successfully using them confirm the settings they use in Sonar? There were no instructions for Sonar so I assumed to do as per the 1884: selected 'FE-8 Control' as midi input and output under Midi Settings and 'FE-8 Control' as in port and out port under 'Control Surfaces'. Any ideas?
