Dropouts only on track 1

Hello,

Longtime Cakewalk user (since way back), frequent visitor here, but I've only posted a couple of times.

I having a strange problem. With several of my projects, track 1 will drop out for a bar or so then resume. My typical song has about 20 tracks and every other track works fine.

I can move a new track up to 1 and it then becomes the dropout track.

System resources and disc access are both under 25%.

System is

Asus A78X Athlon 2.4
Windows XP
Delta 10/10
System drive is serial ATA
audio drive is IDE

I'm getting no pops. clicks or anything else strange.

I assume you talk about audio tracks.

One dumb idea strikes first: did you move clips from other tracks to track one for dropout testing or did you rearrange the original track sequence, e.g. by using Track->Sort or dragging a complete track ?

If you just moved clips it strongly indicates to me that the signal path is different from other tracks. E.g. a demo FX plugin stuck in there which drops out by design or a different physical line out assigned which is not working right.

    Else I'm stumped, too.
