How to record midi notes from soft synth's???

I record midi notes from hardware synth’s, but can't record midi notes from soft synth’s. (no midi controller)
How to record a pattern from a soft synth, or a drum loop (MicroTonic), or a arpeggio, into midi notes?

Very few softsynths actually generate MIDI data, usually they consume it. Of course, an arpeggiator is different because it does generate MIDI data. What specifically are you wanting to accomplish that prompted this question?

    ok!
I would like to know how to record an arpeggio from z3ta+ or other soft synt, so I can modifiy them in midi. (or change synth on the same track.)
The same with f.ex Microtonic. How to record a midi pattern?

How to record a midi pattern?

Without a keyboard: insert notes in piano roll view by mouse point/click.

I see. Well, of course, I don't know. I've got z3ta+ but haven't begun to dig into its depth yet.

I do know that if you had Project5 you can record its MIDI arpeggiator output. But I don't know about the arps in any of the softsynths as to whether they will dump their MIDI to a track.

As said earlier - I don't know of a soft synth that puts out midi data, as they are designed to turn midi into audio. You will have to (in Sonar, anyway) have the midi data converted by an arp before using the soft synth to hear it or convert it to audio.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm out there on this!

I was trying to do this and found I could drag the arp pattern into a midi track from z3ta 2.1

I was looking for this for a track I am building and I found that it is easy now.

I don't think you can do it with z3ta + 1, but if you are using z3ta+ 2.1 simply drag the pattern into a midi track. and z3ta+2.1 includes all the content from z3ta + 1.
