jumping midi

hi this is my first post. been using cakewalk for years. before there's no problem but after installing McAfee my midi files sometimes jumps & sometimes the tempo is slowing down. what do you think is causing this troubles is the anti virus that i've installed? thanks in advance. I'm using a Samsung Sens 670 laptop Windows 98 SE. I'm using this computer for midi files only & internet, thanks again & KEEP ON ROCKIN' THE NET!!!

    Well, yeah. Don't know specifically 'bout McAfee but anti virus in general really bogs a machine down. Try & run something CPU intensive like a sequencer (ProAud) and you'll have a few problems. Particularly on an older and/ or underpowered box. Not familiar w/ Samsung Sens 670 but since you said you're running 98se I'd assume the laptop is not the latest and greatest. Regardless, I found out the hard way that trying to run new, up to date AV (Noton) with an older OS don't cut it. Norton et al just figure that everybody runs XP on at least a P4 3 gig :)

    Try & turn off all AV, run CW and see if it's better.
