Midi playback is dragging

Hey all.

My projects so far are all GENERAL MIDIs. Simple enough... but I have a problem with the playback but only sometimes and on some files.

The clock timing is often inconsistent, making the rhythm drag. I've tried checking my note durations and done some basic quantizing but still... nuttin!

Now accepting comments on this. Thanks

I shot an elephant in my pajamas, what he was doing in my pajamas i will never know!!!

what is the signal chain you are using? in other words, where does the midi start, and what does it's path consist of? does it run thru a hardware, or software synth or just to the sound cards chip? What system is it on, how much ram, what OS, what is the CPU speed, give me details!

The midi data was all entered manually from beginning to end. The "out" in my track strip is the "MS GS wavetable synth" but I'm using only the resident GM card sounds, I guess. It's all internally created so far, with nothing connected or imported (which is why it's especially odd to me).

system specs are 512mb SDRAM, Windows XP (SP2) with Pentium 4/2.40GHz. I guess that's what you need on that geek stuff. Thanks.

And also, be careful discharging firearms into your pajamas! Yikes!

What sound card do you have? that matters alot, if you have a sound blaster, then check to see if MC is set to 48,000 sampling rate options/audio, because that is what sB live and audagy stuff runs at, and it must match.
