MC on a Notebook... What All is Needed?

Can anyone enlighten me as to other possible bumps in the road I might expect in getting MC going on this notebook?

So far I've got an order in for a full duplex external Creative USB sound card. And it looks like I may need a Tascam US-122 adapter as well as a base level condensor mic. About $450 worth of upgrades just to record a useable, full length sound clip. HACK... HACK... Hopefully that'll be it and I can look forward to hours of fun producing songs... which is not something I wanted to do in the first place, but it might be fun.

Thanks in advance for any and all insight,
Laura

I run MC and Sound Forge on my laptop, and have no problems at all. Just make sure you have lots of RAM memory, and a good size hard drive.

    Have fun!!!

Tell me about it, I've put thousands into my setup and have yet to get it all just right. It's getting there though. The setup you described looked pretty good (US-122 and condensor would be good). Tascam has got some bad feedback from people, but so has everything else. Just make sure you research. This forum (and the search button) is a very good place to start. Good luck.
