Weird Recording Problem - newbie

I just installed MC3 yesterday and have had a weird problem whenever I've tried to record audio.

As a test, I recorded about 30 seconds of guitar. Everything seemed to work fine until I hit the stop button. Suddenly my clip shrank to about half its size and played at about twice the pitch.

I'm recording through a MicFlex usb mic. MC3 didn't have any trouble recognizing it, and it's worked fine for other recording applications I've used (e.g. Krystal Audio Engine).

I've looked though the help files and searched the forum and haven't found a description of anything like this problem (or how to fix it).

Anybody out there have any idea what's causing my problem?

    Kenn,
I have not heard of a problem exactly like this before. I need some more info, tho:

    what type of sound card?
what sample and bit rate are you using?
    what driver mode? (OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVER MODE)

Thanks for the fast reply, Beagle!

Sound Card: SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio
    Sample Rate: 44100
    Bit Rate: 16
    Driver Mode: WDM/KS

Could it be the Driver Mode?

Well, I changed my driver mode to MME, and now it works. Thanks for the inspiration, Beagle!
