Upgrade concerns

I have Sonar 2.2. I am a few weeks away from completing my first solo album. I've been holding off on upgrading until I was done with the album because I didn't want to change horses mid stream. I just purchased Sonar 4 SE and have a few concerns:

1. If I save all my vs 2.2 files as bundles, then open them in vs 4, will all my automation and plug-ins still be there or will I have to redo everything. (I would like to mix the album a second time in vs 4 to see if the improved audio engine might make my mixes sound a bit better.)

2. I have an Aardvrk Q-10 interface and I love it, but as you know, Aardvark is no longer. Does anyone know if I will have any problems using it with vs 4? I would hate to have to get another interface because the Aardvark sounds great and does everything I want.

3. I built my own computer a few years back and it has performed flawlessly. It meets all the Sonar 4 requirements listed on the website, but will it take much more processing power than vs 2.2? AMD Athalon 1900+, 512 megs ram, 266 fsb, 2x 40 GB 7200 hd's.

Thanks for your help in advance.

1 - Don't bother with bundles, just open your projects in S4 and re-save them. All effects and automation will be there.

2- If you've got driver that are working, they'll continue to work fine.

3- That'll work. It's getting long in the tooth, but it'll work.

    Hi Butch,

Should open fine. If you save them though, they will not be accessible to Sonar 2.2.

BTW, I thought the quality of the mixes did improve.

My system was pretty much the same when I upgraded. I noticed a slight - 2-3% - increase in CPU usage on some tracks, but overall it was much more stable. In 2.2 usage of around 70% was a real danger area, with 4 it'll handle mid-80's quite nicely.

    HTH,

    Eric.
