Installing full version of VST after demo version installed

Hi folks
I hope someone can help me out with a strange one!.

I installed the Vendetta drum synth demo into a folder called 'VendettaDemo', ran the Cakewalk VST/DXi adapter and all was well.
Having been impressed with Vendetta, I purchased the full product, which I installed into a directory called 'VendettaFull'. Before installing the full version, I deleted the Demo version and the directory 'VendettaDemo'.

Again I ran the VST/DXI adapter which ran through without errors.

However, when I click on 'Vendetta' in the 'Add New Instrument' list, it fails because it can't find Vendetta at 'VendettaDemo' i.e. the old demo directory.

I can't find a anywhere to change this setting and get this, in frustration I even uninstalled and reinstalled Version 2 and it still points to the Demo directory. Shows how thorough the uninstall is!

I've done a global search on 'VendettaDemo' and it didn't find any files containing this text so does anyone know where this information is stored and how I can get rid of it?

I dotn know exactly how, but try putting the files for the full version in the demo directory. Might help.

The usual way (though not the only way) to manage VST plugins is to create a folder in your Program Files folder called VST Plugins (as an example).
MOST installers will ask for your "VST pluging folder", so you can point to that.
Then the vst adapter will scan that folder and all sub-folders beneath it.

In your case, the vst adapter still sees the 'demo' of Vendetta, so you need to re-run the adapter and check the "reset" mark so it rescans as if nothing had been scanned. That should remove the reference to the demo version.

Those pesky demo plugin stains. You've tried scrubbing them ... soaking them out. ... nothing seems to make my plugin folder minty fresh and stain-free!
You're in luck! Try the scientifically formulated, brand spanking new Sonar Plugin Manager! Now with lemon scent!

Welcome to the forum, Brenden. Don't mind me; I just had what they call a 'flight-of-fancy' here. There's nothing new about the Sonar Plugin Manager (still at 1.0). What is new is that it used to be available only to Sonar users, or (supposedly) Project5 users as a download with a registered serial number. The download never worked. At any rate, the program is now included as part of the Project5 V2 installation disk, but it isn't installed by default.

Go to that cool intro song on the install disk, and hunt it down in the very first menu of options. Once installed, it'll be in your Cakewalk folder. With this program, you can see all of your currently installed DirectShow Audio Filters, MIDI FX Filters, DX Instruments (including wrapped ones prefixed with VST), DirectX Media Objects, and Control Surfaces. You can go to each category and see what plugins are enabled or excluded, or even permanently excluded. Look for your demo in DirectX Instruments [DXi], hit the Exclude button, and run the VST Adapter again.

If you make a mistake in selection, showing the Excluded list turns the Exclude button into an Enable button, so the process is reversible. You can also import, export, and manage all of your plugin presets in this program as well. It's one of the best-kept secrets on the installation disk. HTH
