Any good vst's

I am in the market for a couple of vst's. A orchestra vst is my first priorty, but i basically want access to as many instruments, sounds, and drums as my budget allows. I have come across alot in many price ranges, they all seem good, but I figured I would try to get some input from any 1 who has worked with them first hand. Any good suggestion? I am looking for the best quality, and the most authentic for the best price. If u can help me out, please post

    Hi,

There are many VSTi's out there. It's easy to become overfaced with everything. For orchestra sounds there is a VST I have by Edirol which is part of Roland (just in case you didn't know) called HQ(high quality) Orchestral and is a reasonably straightforward VST instrument to use but is quite pricey but specialises in only Orchestral sounds so no great deal of confusion should set in at it's a one trick pony.

East West do sample libraries that use NI Kontakt as the engine but are very expensive.

For all round sounds you may wish to look at Sample Tank by IK Multimedia I think or Sonik Synth by the same company.

What pieces of hardware/software do you currently have? because this could be a determining factor in what you eventually go with.

Hey, Papa, there's something funny about that link you gave...

    Looks like it points to:

"http://I am in the market for a couple of vst's. A orchestra vst is my first priorty, but i basically want access to as many instruments, sounds, and drums as my budget allows."

    ...which my browser doesn't like.

I have home studio v.2 and a use an external m-audio sound card. I have been using the vst adapter to use the vst's I have. I am having much trouble with running these programs thru cakewalk due to the fact that my proccesor is only 466mhz and only 256 ram. I am lucky that i can import my keyboard and drums.(which is very frustrating becuse of drop outs), but i have been getting by. I am very anxious to upgrade and be able to run every thing smoothly with a whole arsinal of instruments and effects. I am just starting to experiment with eq and other mixdown tools also.(almost impossible with my challenged computer) The whole learning process is very fascinating. MY single problem is $$$$ so any good suggestions on vst's or cpu chips at that matter for the best dollar- quility ratio would make my transformation easier,(also have to upgrade mother board because it maxed out at 466, aahhhh), and make my choices more wise. So any type of input will help me greatly.

    Thanks Papa,

I've read up on it a bit and have a question that you may know the answer to. If you don't it's OK. The orchestral software requires a direct to disk extension to a website for technical support or downloading more sounds but the question is does it have to be the computer that the software is installed on or could it be another computer.

    Any info appreciated.

I strongly recommend GPO. I own a copy and am very satisfied by the flexibility and how realistic the instruments are. You can also look on their page for references and who uses it and listen to demos.
You can't get any better than this for the price

Actually, the library uses "Direct From Disk" (DFD) which basically means it plays the samples from your hard drive instead of loading them all into your computer's RAM. (That's a simplified explanation). The computer that you install the EWQL Symphonic Orchestra on does not need to be connected to the internet. In fact, it is always desirable (although not always practical or affordable) to have your DAW systems running on a computer that is NOT internet connected. Then you don't have to worry about anti-virus software or firewalls interfering with your DAW's performance.

Obviously, for tech support forums/email and downloading more samples you would need to have access to an internet connection, but the actual software does not have to be installed on that computer.

    Hi,

www.kvraudio.com is a website that has many free soft synths although not all are worth having but there are a good amount that are useable and cost nothing and if you have spare $$$$ and feel generous you can make a donation to the original developer.

    Hello Mr Dertermined.....& young!!!

For downloading synths at KVR it's hugely beneficial to have a broadband connection. If you have youy're lauging if not.....you're stuffed!!!!!!......only joking.....it just means that some of us people here would have to work out a way of getting these free synths to you.....

    Hi Papa,

Thanks for the info...it's good to know I wouldn't have NI nightmares to get up and running with this orchestral collection. To be fair to NI they do have a system that works but you've just gotta learn the ropes. I'm now on top of my NI products (I think) with passwords and accounts all in order. I just find it's a pain to have a password for the forum an another password for accessing the other part of the website...any way all sorted no....

One question about Garritan Orchestra Vs. EW (which is really the best option?). There is an offer on for EW Gold until the end of August it's at half price....

Sinc spoke very highely of GPO.

I haven't had any experience using GPO so I can't elaborate on that library. I've heard their "demo" presentations and they sound good. However, we all know (or should know) that what we hear on "demo" materials can be deceiving...

I listened to demos of several orchestral libraries before I made my decision to purchase the EWQLSO...To be totally honest, once I had narrowed my list of acceptable (IMO) libraries, I chose the EWQLSO on the basis of the artist endorsements (in particular, that of Wix Wickens, Paul McCartney's keyboardist), and the fact that I have NI's Kontakt and I'm very comfortable using it as a softsynth plugin or stand-alone.

    Just my $ .02 worth...

    Papa

The full version Konatak2 comes with (7.46 gigs, 10,796 samples, and 435 programs) of VSL samples

I know a room full of musical tunes.
Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockwork.
Let's go into the other room and make them work.
