BUGS IN SONAR 403 PATCH - MIXDOWN CLOSES PROGRAM

When mixing down a few stereo tracks , approximatelt 12 stereo tracks of around 4 minutes length, Bounce to track function causes Sonar 4.03 to shut down jsut as the mixdown is almost complete 99%. SONAR 403 TOTAL CRASH. On restart program, MIDI interface settings lost.

This 403 patch totally screws Sonar up and makes it unuseable.

Did a quick bounce on a important track....Works fine. Might be a memory issue.

Unselect Fast Bounce in the export dialog box. Some plugs do not like Fast Bounce.

Thanks for your kind suggestion Mod Bod, however this didnt cure the problem. Situation unchanged regarding the crashing, only difference is that you have to wait longer when fax mixdown is deselected for the mixdown to reach 99%, and then the program closes out with no warning.

This was not happening at all with version 401. Nothing else has changed. Same hardware, same project file. Same day. Worked in the morning under version 401, then after upgrade to version 403 via 402 close out of the program happenes.

Could it be the patch 402 or 403 causing this to suddenly happen.

It is definitely possible. I'd patch to 4.0.2 and run that for several days to a week to see what issues pop up.

Did you reboot between patch updates?

Also did you reprofile your sound card?

Also did you check to make sure your clock and bit settings are correct for your sound card?

And becuase I always ask this...During the upgrade process...did you install anything else? Like upgrading Sound card drivers or anything of that nature? How about Direct X updates?

    Just some thoughts.

That's a bit hard, don't you think? Did you try to re-install Sonar completely? Takes maybe 20 minutes, worth a try imo.

Just to add: even installs between the initial Sonar install and updates can matter. I know, they shouldn't, but once I had exactly that problem after installing 4.0.2, crashes etc. After re-installing completely, the problems were gone.

I've always had problems mixing down with a twin processor, I don't know if my experience can help you. In my case, I've identified certain plugins that seem to be at the root of the problem. It's possible something similar is happening to you. I resolved my problem by :

    1. Disabling Cakewalk's Multiprocessing Enfine when mixing down.
    2. Either selecting the What You Hear preset or Main Output as the Source Category. Worth experimenting like this ... it shouldn't take long to find out.

    Good Luck
