My 1st Problem with 4.0.3...

...happened the other night. I have a project that now cannot be opened since doing the upgrade. When I try to open the tune, it goes so far as to find all of the .wav files and then I get the gray box that says: "SONARPDR.EXE has experienced an error and will now exit - a log file has been created" (or something like that) with an OK button at the bottom of the box. Once I click the button, it is back to the desktop and Sonar is closed. This file will now not open at all. Can somebody help me accomplish this?

Quite possibly a plug-in problem. Read up on Safe Mode in the SONAR manual.

Safe mode. Press shift as you click to open the project. Your plugins will load up one at a time. If ones causing the problem it will rear it's ugly head.

i get the same behavior if i'm using any soft-synth romplers, and i've moved the source samples, or if the last time the plug-in was open, i was browsing a directory that no longer exists. if that saves you anytime...safe mode is a life-saver, but it sure can take a lot of time to piece a comp back together.

This happened to me in 2.2 XL and 3.11 PE as well, it is probably a plug in problem. Do what the other repliers said, That will probably fix it.

For the heck of it, I'd recommend running a good memory test application and do a full hard drive disk check.

I had a situation recently where the IDE hard drive cable which "looked ok" wasn't. So things seemed to go well and then some weird problem would happen that made no sense.
Someone suggested check the cables, and I'm glad he did.

So, the point is, it's possible you're having some system problem (HD, memory, etc) which is intermittment and corrupting your file(s).

Worth checking your system out thoroughly just to make sure that's not causing trouble for ya.

    Most excellent posters:

Problem solved. I did a file open in safe mode and found out that Amplitube was being difficult. I really wasn't using it in the project and it has always been a bit temperamental from my experience. I just unloaded it from the project and now all is well. You guys are fantastically brilliant. Thanks WFTurner.

I read it is good to increase all buffer settings when doing the bounce thang.
