quicktime problem

I have some quicktime movies that I can play on one computer with Sonar 2.1 but when i try on another computer (same sonar version, fresh install) I get "unable to import video - unrecognized file format or invalid file." I will post the exact text of the error very shortly ----any ideas?

You have to have Apple quicktime installed or a codec for Windows that can play the video.

Mmmm...it happens that I ran into the same problem yesterday. I have a new digital camera (Kodak DX6490), and I recorded some short videoclips and imported them into my DAW. The camera creates them as .mov, and Quicktime 6.5.1 plays them perfectly, but I get the same message as rdrew when I try to import them into Nero (to burn a DVD compatible CD), SoundForge 6 or Sonar 4).

    The exact error is:
"unable to import video - unrecognized file format or invalid file.
One or more arguements are invalid"
    (and QT is installed)

I worked on a film project earlier this year, and got a similar error. Make sure it's the latest version of QT. If I remember correctly, I basically had to open the video file and resave/export it from QT and then it was recognisable by Sonar. Same thing happened with Nuendo/Cubase, BTW.

I'm not at my computer at home, so I'll repost later when I can look at it and recall exactly what I did...
