Can Someone Please Help?

Hi All,

Just started to get back to some recording after a 3 month hiatus... any way, I just bought a M-Audio CO3 Digital Converter so I can use the digital output and take advantage of the A/D Converters in my Pre Amp.

The Mic pre digital output is AES/EBU...into the CO3 converter...then SPDIF output of the CO3 into the SPDIF input on my Echo Gina 24. I was told that I would get a better quality recording using the digital output and the A/D conversion in my mic pre and therefor bypassing the converters in the Gina 24.

Anyway... everything was going great, did some recording and later on when I turned the computer on and went back into Sonar 4 every single file that I have is playing back at what seems like 1/2 speed. Nothing plays back at normal speed.

What the heck happened? I have no clue. Can you please HELP?

Make sure everything is synch'd at 44.1 S/R as this is all S/Pdif can do.

Im reading this, trying to understand. To me it seems like you have too many instanses of conversion going on. If your pre amp has a built in converter, why did you need the Maudio converter? AES/EBU outputs ARE digital, so you dont need any extra converter. You should be able to go right into the GINA. Because you have an extra digital device in the chain now, my guess is you are at least adding another instance of sampling that is not synced properly causing your playback to seemed slowed down, which will happen if you play something back at 44.1 that was recorded at 48. I know that might not help much, but may get you on the road to trouble shooting.

The decisions we make are based on the consequences, not the potential experience.
