Triggering Drums in Sonar 4 PE

I've always mic'd drums for all of my recordings, but I want to experiment with triggering the bass drum and blending it with the mic signal. Im using a MOTU 828mkII which has plenty of different ins and outs, so I would assume that it would be capable of this. Im not really sure where to start, so if anyone has experimented with this or knows what I need to do, please post your ideas.

I'm no expert but have been working hard for the last year to achieve the same results but with all the drums triggered. Which trigger and drum module or sample would you be using? The trick is finding a module or sample sound that is as close as you can get to your kick. Use the triggered kick and eq it close to and underneath your mic'd kick in the mix so that it isn't obvious but can give a bit of punch to the mix.
    Hope this helps.

Put a trigger on your kick drum and run it into a controller to sonar and record the midi note. then find what sample you want it to play and mix it in with your kick.

You need a sampler and a controller
I am using an Alesis D5 and Battery 2
