Mixer hardware question

I have been looking at several mixing componets. What i would like to do with it is some how patch each individual mono fader to a track in home studio, with out actually running audio thru it. Are they mixers that would do this, im sure they would have to be accompinied by some kinda plug in software. What my objestive here to do is, once I am done with my all my recording, I would like to loop it and use the mixer to fine tune it. Also be able to use the effects on the mixer to add reverb, eq and things like that. Is there mixers capable of this?? If so please direct me there

    Huh?

    Your posts are making progressively less sense...What exactly do you want to do...Feel free to be specific...There are no restrictions on "word count" here...

    I think you're referring to a Control Surface.

    These can resemble mixers in that they have groups of faders and/or knobs however instead of affecting audio, they work by transmitting MIDI to the host software. The software allows you assign this knob or fader to any number of parameters; Volume, Pan, EQ, Aux levels, Play/Stop/Record, FX, etc. Different control surfaces have different capabilities and features such as motorized faders, USB or Firewire connection, Transport Controls, Footpedal jacks, rotary encoders, and even LCD screens.

    Here are a few control surfaces that might suit your needs;

    http://www.mackie.com/products/mcu/index.html - Mackie Control Universal, the grand daddy of them all.

    http://www.behringer.com/BCF2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG - A new low-priced alternative.

    http://www.tascam.com/Products/fw1082.html - A control surface and audio/MIDI interface in one.

    Control Surface support is implemented in all of the SONAR line of products.

    Jesse,

    Thanks for your presence on this forum...I have a feeling that the introduction of Sonar 4XL (replacing the HS software) will merit your (or other Cakewalk reps) additions to many of the questions that will be, inevitably, asked on this board.

    Thanks Papa2004,

    The forum members here have a great rep for being super helpful and responsive but of course some of us have an inside track when it comes to new software releases :)

    No. The control surface works on audio tracks, eq, effects, etc.,...It's an "extension" of your DAW system enabling a "hands on the knobs" approach as opposed to using the mouse to move faders and such...

    The Mackie(s) or Behringer or Yamaha or others will usually work on both audio and midi - the physical faders/knobs can control many software targets, as long as you are willing to program them.
