How are you Managing without Position Markers?

Hello All.

What are the ways in which you are compensating for the inability to place position markers in Project5's arrange pane? I have relied heavily on position markers when I compose because it helps me recognize track placement and quickly identifies certain parts that may need detailed attention later.

How are you P5 users compensating for this in P5?

Peace,

when composing pattern-based music in p5, I go by the areas of color scheme that arise naturally. One section will end up having certain colors and another section having certain others. Memory, I guess. Audio is a little harder, but I don't work with audio much in p5.

Someone put up placeholder patterns on p5.com, though. they carry labels like chorus, bridge, intro, stuff like that. You place an empty track at the top and put those patterns there, and they act like markers.

I use a dummy description track with blank patterns in it. Each pattern can be appropriately named, and as a bonus, double-clicking or lassoing a pattern or patterns (then Ctrl+P) loops that isolated section.

Epytryga has uploaded a set of marker patterns here under Patterns at Project5.com, if you want some pre-builts. Look for the Pseudomaker download. HTH

j/k. Usually it's me that types in a long, detailed, perfectly crafted response only to hit "OK" and find that somebody typed three sentences containing the exact same info and hit "ok" ten minutes ago. There oughta be a 'new post in thread popup

Amen. That what I get. I had forgotton who exactly had posted those patterns, and I left to hunt down Eric's contribution for the proper credit. When I returned, I filled in the blanks on my reply, and ... forgot to refresh. I hate when that happens ...

Thanks for the Patterns B rock.

These patterns will do for now, but I hope the next update or the next major version of P5 include Markers.

    Thanks again.

Wrench45us, when Cake adds Markers to P5, and I think they will, you will love the ability to use them when composing.

    Peace

,,,yea markers would be splendid,,,,, but,, have you tried composing with the "groove matrix",,,,, ..just one click ,,ya can preview your ,, verse,, hook,,, break,,, etc,,,,, that's where it starts,,,,,,,, and "never ends" with the optons,,,, in,, the matrix,,,,, combine them,, solo them,,, tweak them,,, ,,,, oh my,,,

I use the groove matrix all of the time, but I also have singers and live instuments they that I use. I need markes for them and not the matrix.

i usually use sonar for recording the live instruments and he singers, but if i am recording a piano track and iI mess up as I listen back, I want tp mark the mistakes so I will know where to take them out. Plus markers are cool.. LOL

so you mean to say that it's possible to know where the bridge starts in some other way than the shape of the track and keeping an eye out for Copy(2) of Copy of Pattern 41 in burnt orange on the drum track?

i guess that could be handy

I've never used position markers in my life I'm a weirdo I guess. I can tell what section is what in my song just by the shape of all stuff in it.
