Sonar/P5 Rewire (not getting it right)

I couldn't resist the special on Sonar 4 so picked it up the other week.
Also have Scott Garrigus' book, which I have just started.
I know this has been looked into recently, and please bear with my ignorance but I don't seem to be getting it right.
I can rewire okay (as such) in that I can give P5 a number of outputs that then show up in Sonar.
Lets say I opened up one synth in P5 and created a few bars.
While it may not be necessary to move this to Sonar, what if I wanted to?
I tried the bounce to track and thought I'd got it a few times (I got the hourglass - something was doing something:)
but I didn't seem to be getting anywhere.
Can I bounce a length of midi to an audio track, as audio (or is that a stupid question)?
Thanks and hope I've explained it well enough.
Note to cakewalk - an online video of how to do this would really help.
Thanks

Hmmm....a little screen-cam capture program, Sony Vegas, and a P5 Wiki--sounds like a user-made self-help video is in order to me. Now if there were just time...

    Dave,

First read the wiki thing about re-wiring to sonar. You can just search a little bit for it in this forum. But basically I was in the same shoes last week. You have to go to the time line that is right above the clip pane. Click down at the beginning of that bar (just do it) I know it doesnt make sense. The color of that measure will turn darker. Drag to the right the distance of the length of your p5 project
    THEN press bounce to track.

That should get it. I am surprised CW hasnt made this easier. No one's perfect though! good luck

I'll look at that. I did see some previous posts last week but must have missed that bit.

,, this is a powerful feature,,,,,, make sure ,, you select "tracks" under "source category" in the bounce to tracks window,,,, any "selected tracks in sonar (the numbers are highlited) along,,, with the "audio p5 track" (in sonar),,, will bounce,,,,, the measures you selected in the timeline in sonar,,,,, try it with just the 'main outs" in p5 first,,,(select first synth audio,, when you go to rewire),,, ya know ,, so ya get the hang of it,,,
