Soundmax Digital Audio won't work in Sonar 4.03?

Not sure if anyone else occasionally uses the oem onboard sound chip in their notebooks for basic audio playback. But after installing the 4.03 patch I can no longer get my Soundmax digital audio to work in Sonar.

The error states that the drvers do not support the current audio format (44k 16 bit??? cmon!) or are in use by another app (I have share audio drivers with other programs turned on).

It gives me the option to disable or use anyway, I choose use anyway & it ignores it.

My Soundmax Digital Audio worked just fine with the 4.02 patch!

Any ideas?

    No you don't! Soundmax Digital has had WDM drivers from the get go.

    As usuall you guys have been more than wicked helpfull.

    Also, remember, you may get the best out of onboard sound by using asio4all driver.

    Ok oddly enough MME works & WDM does not.
    I could have swore that I had this chipset working with WDM in 4.02.

    Anyhow thank you for the info!

    Just tried the Soundmax wdm drivers in a Dell gx260 (not a laptop but I don't think that's the issue) and they work just fine with 4.03. Of course they don't sound all that good but ...

    don't know if you've gotten this issue resolved yet. i had the exact same problem with my soundmax when i first bought sonar 4. i was so pissed. what it turned out to be was that by default, sonar was using the windows wdm midi card or some such thing and hence my wdm drivers were already tied up. it kept saying "wdm drivers are in use by another program" or something, but i couldn't figure out what other program it would me! i eventually discovered i just had to disable using the generic wdm midi driver or whatever (i'll never use it anyway). after that, i could use wdm and then asio4all with no problem. so check in your midi settings in sonar.

    Agreed.I'll take 20ms MME over those any day.
